Pastoral care · free & confidential

A chaplain for the journey.

Building something is lonely, and the hardest parts rarely make it onto LinkedIn. Two things sit underneath all of this — friendship first, and a workplace chaplain when you need one. Both are free, both are for the person behind the founder.

Our partner across the city

In partnership with Bristol Chaplaincy.

For trained, professional chaplaincy beyond our own community, we point Bristol founders to Bristol Chaplaincy — a registered charity placing accredited chaplains across the city centre. Like us, they're openly Christian and genuinely open to everyone; every conversation is confidential, and free.

Richard and Lois Evans, lead chaplains at Bristol Chaplaincy

Richard & Lois Evans

Lead chaplains · Bristol Chaplaincy

Richard is an ordained minister who spent 25+ years in business as an IT-sector consultant before co-founding Bristol Chaplaincy — he gets the commercial world from the inside, deadlines and pressure and all.

Lois brings 25+ years supporting ex-offenders, homeless people and some of the most disadvantaged in the city, alongside years of pastoral care in her local church — a deep well of listening experience. Married, with five children, they lead the work together.

You can book a session directly with Richard, Lois or one of their team — a free, confidential 45-minute listening appointment, in a coffee shop or one of their hubs (the coffee's on them).

What helps a founder most

1:1 active listening

A confidential, ~45-minute conversation in a coffee shop or one of their hubs. No judgement, and the coffee's on them.

On-site workplace chaplaincy

If you employ a team, a dedicated chaplain can visit regularly — a steady, neutral presence for whoever needs it.

Signposting

When something needs a specialist — money, legal, clinical — they know the city's services and point you to the right door.

Support for Mental Health First Aiders

1:1 backing for the people in your company who carry everyone else's wellbeing. Someone to hold them, too.

Wellbeing courses & resources

Proactive, preventative sessions — getting ahead of stress and burnout rather than waiting for the crisis.

WhatsApp support groups

Quiet, ongoing connection between conversations, in the channel founders already live in.

The Prayer Barge moored by Valentines Bridge, Temple Quay
A place to be still

The Prayer Barge.

Sometimes what's needed isn't a conversation at all — it's stillness. The Prayer Barge is a floating sanctuary moored in Temple Quay: a quiet space for prayer and reflection in the middle of the city's daily rhythm, run by friends of ours who partner with Bristol Chaplaincy.

Carrying something heavy?

You don't need the right words or a good reason. Book a quiet conversation with Richard, Lois or one of their team — a walk, a coffee, a phone call. Confidential, and entirely free.

Ask for a chat →

If you're in crisis or need urgent help, please contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time) or call 999. A chaplain is a listening ear, not an emergency service.

Out of friendship, pastoral care is met.
The conviction underneath all of this

You do not need to share our faith to be cared for here. If you came along, felt noticed, and were asked for nothing, you'd have met the whole point of it. We're church-rooted and we say so plainly — and the door is genuinely open to everyone.
